Houston Suburbs

As the largest city in Texas, Houston heads up a metropolitan area that includes a number of vibrant and diverse suburbs. When touring Houston homes for sale, consider these wonderful suburbs that are recommended by our real estate agents.

  • The Woodlands
Do you enjoy nature but don't want to give up urban amenities? Get the best of both worlds in The Woodlands. Located just 28 miles north of downtown Houston, The Woodlands is named for its stunning forested areas that create a peaceful, family-friendly ambiance. Many of the parks and public areas include stunning works of art, such as "The Dreamer," a larger-than-life sculpture of a barefoot man reclining under a tree. With more than 160 shops and restaurants, along with a kids' play area and carousel, you'll find everything you need at The Woodland Mall. See for yourself why many people choose The Woodlands homes for sale.

  • Sugar Land
Sugar Land is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas. And there are many reasons why Sugar Land homes for sale are so popular. Sports and physical activities are popular in Sugar Land, which has earned several titles of "Fittest City in Texas." The Sugar Land Ice and Sports Center was the training site for Olympic champion figure skater Tara Lipinski, while the city also fields competitive teams in baseball, cricket, and swimming. In addition to top-ranked schools, Sugar Land offers a blend of learning and fun at places such as the Houston Museum of Natural Science and Fort Bend Children's Discovery Center.

  • Nassau Bay
Despite its tropical-sounding name, Nassau Bay could be called "the city NASA built." Situated just across Texas State Highway NASA Road 1 from the space agency's headquarters, Nassau Bay became the home of NASA personnel who were transferred from around the country, predominantly from California and Florida. With its location on the edge of Clear Lake, which is part of Galveston Bay, Nassau Bay homes for sale provide the proximity to water that helped these transplants feel more at home. The city's crown jewel is Nassau Peninsula, a 76-acre wetland area that sits at the end of Harbour Drive. Take in the sights of birds, wildlife, and plants along the 2.4-mile trail, which is easy enough to accommodate all ages.

  • Friendswood
With a population of just under 36,000, Friendswood is one of the few small towns to have appeared on the CNN/Money Magazine list naming the top 100 of "America's Best Places to Live." Friendswood has the distinction of being the only permanent city in Texas that was founded as a colony of the Quakers, or Friends. People continue to value the strong sense of community in Friendswood, frequently describing the residents as "kind and welcoming." With two outdoor sports complexes, a disc golf course, and an off-leash dog park, there are lots of opportunities to enjoy the Texas sunshine when you move into one of the many Friendswood homes for sale.
